The MobyMax Benchmark Test
That Confirms Real Mastery
The benchmark report tells parents which grades have been truly mastered, which scored below 80%, and which still have outstanding tests to complete. Honest assessment, not just completion percentages.

Sent once a week. Two clean sections — what’s still outstanding, and how this week’s tests scored. No interpretation needed; the data speaks.
Outstanding assignments
A simple table showing benchmarks still pending — subject, grade level, and when they were assigned. No more “did the school send something?”
Passed (80% +)
Green pills mark benchmarks where the child achieved real mastery — 80% or higher. The grade level is locked in.
Below 80%
Red pills flag benchmarks that didn’t reach the pass mark — these need remedial work before being retried.
Remedial path defined
When a benchmark scores below 80%, the teacher reviews the gaps and assigns targeted remedial work in MobyMax. Once complete, the child retests.
Who Receives This Email?
The benchmark email is built for the parent acting as the accountability layer in their child’s education. That isn’t every parent.
Homeschool family
The parent IS the accountability layer. This email is essential.
Without a school team chasing outstanding work, the homeschool parent needs full visibility — what’s pending, what’s passed, what needs remedial. The benchmark email surfaces all of it.
The email is sent directly from the Teacher Benchmark Assignment Tool — the system that decides which benchmarks each child is ready for and routes the right report to the right family.
“Friday email tells me exactly which benchmarks my children passed this week, and which still need work. I don’t need to chase the system — the system tells me.”
In a MobyMax school
Teachers manage outstanding benchmarks. Parents see the wins.
School teachers use the same Teacher Benchmark Assignment Tool to manage outstanding benchmarks directly with their students — that’s part of their day-to-day teaching role, not the parent’s.
Instead of the benchmark email, school parents stay in the loop via the Celebration Email — which announces benchmarks passed and the milestones worth recognising.
“The school handles the chasing. We hear about the wins when they happen — which is the part we want to hear about anyway.”
A test of every standard in the grade
A MobyMax benchmark test assesses every standard in a grade level — typically around 90 minutes of testing for Maths. There are no hints and no second chances within the test, so the score reflects what your child genuinely retained.
The pass mark is 80%. Below that threshold, your child’s teacher reviews the gaps the test exposed and assigns targeted remedial work in MobyMax. Once the remedial is complete, your child retests — the cycle repeats until 80% is reached.
Complete grade
Child reaches 100% on all lessons in the grade.

Read the full benchmarks guide100% Completion Isn’t 100% Mastery
Reaching 100% on a grade means your child has worked through all the content. It does not mean they retained it. The benchmark test is what proves the difference.
~40%
Typical first benchmark score after a child reaches 100% completion. The other 60% is the gap between finishing and mastering.
Real progression we see at Ambition International School. Without benchmark testing, this child would have moved on believing they had mastered the grade — while still missing 60% of the content.
The benchmark email turns this honest assessment into a weekly snapshot. Parents see exactly which grades have been mastered, which need remedial work, and which tests are still outstanding. No interpretation, no spin — just the truth about retention.
The honest layer in the five-report system
Each of the five reports answers a different question. The benchmark report tells you the real — has the grade actually been mastered, or just clicked through? The weekly progress report shows the most recent and highest benchmark score per subject in its summary table — but the full week-by-week benchmark history lives in this email.
Behind the scenes, the Teacher Benchmark Assignment Tool is what decides which benchmarks each child is ready for and triggers this email when a homeschool parent needs the update. It’s the same tool school teachers use — they just deploy it differently, managing outstanding work directly with students rather than emailing parents.
Real mastery, visible to leadership
For schools, the benchmark email itself isn’t sent — your teachers handle outstanding work directly through the Teacher Tool, and that’s the right workflow for a classroom. But the same data sits in the system: benchmark mastery rates per class, per grade, per subject — visible to teachers and to school leadership. Real proof that lessons completed equals knowledge retained.
The other reports give you context. The celebration email tells you the wow. The end-of-term report card tells you the whole. Together they cover every question a parent or educator could reasonably ask — but the benchmark email is the one that confirms the work is real.
