When you switch to MobyMax Reports, your child or your students start with a placement test rather than imported history. We won’t pretend that’s nothing — there’s a small disruption. But it’s worth it for what comes next: the five reports, the parent dashboards, the celebration emails, the teacher tool, and the visibility your previous provider couldn’t give you.

Your current data won’t transfer.
Here’s why that’s actually fine.
MobyMax doesn’t allow accumulated student progress to move between providers. So when you switch to us, we start a new MobyMax account for your child or your students. That’s a technical reality — not something we can work around.
The accumulated progress history.
Time spent, completion percentages, benchmark scores from your previous provider’s account — none of that carries over. Your child or students will start a fresh MobyMax account on our system.
We’re being upfront about this because some providers don’t mention it — and parents only find out after switching.

MobyMax’s placement test is one of the most accurate diagnostic tools in adaptive education. When your child takes it, the system identifies exactly where they are — not where their accumulated history says they should be. That’s a feature, not a flaw.

Placement tests across the five tested subjects take 45–90 minutes each. Most students finish their full placement battery within their first week of using MobyMax through us.
⚠️ Honest expectation: it may run slightly lower
Sometimes the placement test sets your child at a level slightly lower than where their previous account said they were. Don’t panic. This is your child’s actual level of working knowledge — not lost work, not work that needs repeating.
Many parents discover that their previous provider’s accumulated record had inflated the level. The placement test simply tells the truth. From that honest starting point, your child progresses faster than they would from an inflated position.
📖 Subjects without placement tests
Not every MobyMax subject has a placement test. Maths, Language, Reading Level Assessment, Foundation Reading, and Vocabulary do. Science, Social Studies, and a few smaller subjects (Spelling, Writing, Phonics, Fact Fluency) don’t.
For these subjects, here’s what we do: look up the current grade for each student on your existing MobyMax system, write them down, and send them to us. We’ll set every student up at exactly that grade level on our system — no guesswork, no resetting them to default. Continuity preserved where MobyMax allows it.
Brand-new students who don’t have current grades elsewhere? We default to the student’s school year for these subjects, then adjust on request.
