Make Monday Benchmark Day
Every Monday morning, one screen shows every benchmark ready to assign, every student needing remedial, every assignment still outstanding, and every win from the week. No more clicking through students subject by subject. No more cross-checking your own notes. The teacher tool that powers the parent benchmark email — and saves teachers hours every week.
Two weekly workloads. Both tedious.
A teacher running a class of 25 students across 5 subjects has two recurring jobs every week — both genuinely necessary, both involving a lot of clicking through MobyMax to find a few actionable items.
Finding benchmarks ready to assign
When a student reaches 100% proficiency on a grade, they’re ready for a benchmark test. To find them the manual way:
- Open student dashboard
- Check each subject for 100% proficiency
- Cross-reference your own notes — already assigned?
- Repeat for the next student
- Repeat next week, even though most students haven’t moved
For 25 students × 5 subjects, that’s 125 dashboard checks a week — usually to find the 6 students actually ready.
Finding students who need remedial
When a student scores below 80% on a benchmark, they need remedial work. To find them the manual way:
- Navigate to Curriculum → subject
- Click Scores → Benchmark Scores
- Click each individual student to see their score
- Note who failed, cross-reference your own records
- Repeat per student, per subject, every week
Without proper notes, it’s easy to forget who already has remedial assigned and who doesn’t.
✨ The tool replaces both hunts with one screen
Section 1 shows every benchmark ready to assign — no hunting. Section 3 shows every student needing remedial — no hunting. Two clean lists, one weekly check.
Honest caveat: the tool doesn’t auto-assign benchmarks. Teachers still assign in MobyMax — but instead of hunting through five subjects per student to find what’s ready, they work from a clean prioritised list.
Four sections. Four colours. One screen.
The tool divides the benchmark process into four colour-coded sections. Each section answers one question. Together they replace the two weekly hunts described above.
Benchmarks to Assign
Every student who has reached 100% on a grade — across every subject — appears here. The tool recommends the lowest unresolved grade for each student (the dark red pill with the arrow), but teachers can tick any grade shown to assign it. This list replaces the manual subject-by-subject dashboard hunt. One screen, every student, every subject ready to assign.
Benchmarks Assigned — Awaiting Completion
Every benchmark currently assigned to a student but not yet completed. This replaces the manual “open Assignments → click each student” check. No action needed here — when a result arrives in next Friday’s import, the row moves automatically. To Section 3 if the score is below 80%, or it disappears (and the win shows up in Section 4) if they passed.
Remedial & Benchmark Follow-up
Every student who attempted a benchmark and scored below 80%. The failing grade is shown as a solid red pill with the score visible — no need to click into individual student records to check. This replaces the manual Curriculum → Scores → Benchmark Scores hunt. The teacher assigns remedial work in MobyMax, ticks the remedial grade in the tool, and the row moves to Section 2 to wait for the retest score.
Recently Passed — This Week’s Benchmarks ≥ 80%
Every benchmark passed at 80% or above during the most recent weekly import. This week’s wins only — not all-time results. No action needed. Use it as a quick weekly check that students are progressing — and as the source data for the parent celebration emails sent on Friday afternoons.
Five pill colours. Instant comprehension.
Every grade pill in the tool tells the teacher exactly what’s happened at that grade level — at a glance, no clicking required. Five colours, five meanings.
Green — Passed via import
The student passed the benchmark at 80% or above, and the score arrived through the weekly MobyMax import. Confirmed pass. No action needed.
Blue — Passed via manual back-fill
The grade was manually recorded using the Score Back-fill panel rather than arriving through the weekly import. Counts as a full pass. Used to skip lower grades a student doesn’t need to test, or to correct a score that was imported incorrectly.
Dark red with arrow — Recommended
Proficiency at 99% or above with no score yet. The system’s recommended next benchmark to assign — the lowest unresolved grade for that student in that subject. Tick to assign.
Light red — Also due
Proficiency at 99% or above, no score yet, but a higher grade than the recommendation. Can be assigned if the teacher judges it appropriate. Tick to assign.
Solid red with score — Remedial
The student attempted the benchmark but scored below 80%. Needs remedial work before retesting. Shown in Section 3. Tick to record that remedial has been assigned in MobyMax.
Each pill in Section 1 and Section 3 has a small checkbox. Tick the grade you’ve just assigned in MobyMax — the row moves to Section 2 to wait for the score.
